Akántaros is an intercultural and transdisciplinary association dedicated to art and education. A collective that carries out actions based on a laboratory methodology as a space for research, experimentation, and creation. A continuous layered drift, in which proposals and questions emerge, stretching the imagination. An inexhaustible journey.
We currently operate in Argentina, Spain, and Mexico, with occasional visits to Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Italy, and Uruguay.
Objectives:
Encourage:Spaces for experimentation-action-reflection, fostering ideas and languages, responsibility, effort, love for things, the environment, people, freedom of ideas and languages, and enriching cultural encounters.
Prevent: The forgetting of historical events, anti-ecological behavior models, apathetic and alienated social systems.
Promote:Cultural expressions, diverse/shared languages, internal/collective reflections, art for coexistence, and sustainable exchange relationships.
Enjoy:The world, art, childhood, social, work, and personal relationships, people, ideas, and actions.
Artistic Laboratory:
A space where we study, read, and debate the artistic principles that guide and inspire us. Here, we experiment with new trends in theater, music, and dance, both physically and intellectually. “A takeover of art,” an aesthetic responsibility that implies an ethics. It also involves a relationship of “courtesy, as traditionally existed between a host and their guest,” that is, entering different artistic zones as new spaces where doors and windows open, where others speak, and we strive to understand and engage in dialogue (whether through rhythm, color, or words).
The deeper we go into artistic experience, the more personal and unique the experience becomes, and the artwork becomes the necessary expression of a “rich” subjectivity linked to the collective. In this era—sensed (or known) as one of decline or serious conflicts—it is through artistic expressions that the signs of a “humanly” alive life will emerge.
Educational Laboratory:
A space where we research methodologies to find our own—open, creative, bidirectional, and linked to art. We consider education as transmission, meaning transferring knowledge from one place to another, emitting signs, learning, and unlearning until we find our own voice, always connected to the voices of others.
We believe in education and transmission as a means of fostering thought, thus enabling a critical attitude. Education is a vital and permanent process, a pursuit of knowledge that entails a solid construction towards the best in humanity.
